Hi ,
I hope this finds you safe and healthy. In this edition, I am glad to bring you updates on some of the most noteworthy HR Trends in Japan.
in Japan, fundamental changes are usually top-down, starting with big companies and usually followed by others. One recent example is the work reform first initiated by Prime Minister Abe, and swept over the country. The New Capitalism strategy announced by Prime Minister Kishida on June 7 pledged aggressive investment in human resources. The following week, a panel of Japanese financial regulators submitted a proposal requiring listed companies to disclose any gender gaps in their workforce.
Under the rules approved by the panel on corporate disclosure, the Financial Services Agency will require 4,000 or so listed firms in the country to include in their annual financial reports:
- gender disparities in pay,
- management jobs,
- and the rate of male employees taking child-care leave.
What does it mean to corporate leaders and HR professionals in Japan? The pandemic forced changes in the way we do business, work, and live. People Analytics (PA) has never drawn so much attention as before, and Talent Management is undergoing digital transformation and HR professionals are expected to use people data to provide insight and solutions to address the ever-evolving talent and business challenges.
I have been following the PA trends in recent years. I would like to share some of the resources that help business leaders and HR practitioners in Japan to stay ahead of the wave, and as I would like to continue introducing the latest PA development in our future newsletters, your feedback and comment are most welcome.
